This week we'll examine what a good day can look like with functional communication strategies in place. We all want that right?
It’s Monday morning, things feel more chaotic than usual getting to the office and when you finally get there 20 minutes late you realize you forgot to pick up your mobile coffee order. You have a brief moment of panic that you’re late for the Monday huddle but then remember that it no longer takes place at 8:10, it’s been moved to 9:00 to allow for everyone enough time to catch up from the weekend and mentally prepare for the week ahead. On your way to your desk you check in with a few of your clinicians and sit down to check the agenda for the huddle and have some water.
The Morning meeting
As you make your way to the conference room there is a positive buzz in the air and you can feel your team is ready to greet the work week. It’s Carrie’s turn to run the huddle, the entire team takes turns because it lends itself well for leadership training.

As she makes her way through the agenda Jeff raises some constructive criticism about a patient interaction last week, he includes possible solutions going forward to address prevention. Carrie acknowledges the situation that was unpleasant for all involved without assigning blame and then asks the team to roleplay his ideas. The team finds that 3 of the 4 ideas work well and the meeting continues.
